The HEART of the program is a specially designed 144 hour TEFL / TESOL course that combines what we feel are the essentials of what you need to become an effective Teacher and to successful in your new country. The program has an academic class work component, a foreign language component, and a teaching practice component.
When you arrive at Phnom Penh airport in Cambodia, where you will be met by a member of our LanguageCorps staff and they will take you to your accommodation in Phnom Penh.
On Sunday evening you will attend a welcome dinner to meet your peers who are training on the Cambodia, Vietnam and China program.
On Monday you will join students from the LanguageCorps Cambodia, Vietnam and China TEFL / TESOL programs for the first 2 weeks of the course of your academic training.
We have developed this model at the request of Asia Languagecorps members to meet and develop relationships with their counter parts in other countries. Additionally while in Cambodia those taking a full 144 hours TEFL / TESOL Training course will be give a free 3 days excursion to Siem Reap - Angkor Wat.
Let's walk through the program and see what you will be doing on a day to day basis.
During the first two weeks of class week, your time will be dedicated to academics. At the end of the second week you will return to Thailand to complete your local language training and teaching practice. We want to you have a solid base so that at the beginning of the third week, you are ready to begin student teaching. The day starts at 9 AM and finishes at approximately 5.30 PM. The day is broken up into four two hour teaching segments with breaks and lunch as appropriate. Topics covered during this first part of the program include:
